Amber Coast

El Choco

Our Canadian guides lead us on a tour of the Dominican Republic's newest national park

The highlight was the caves.
Here is the entrance to one (below)

After climbing down a few hundred feet in pitch darkness, lit only by our flashlights, we came upon a deep pool of clear water.  Chris and I took a swim. ( the rest of our group declined.)
here I am swimming, lit only by the flash lights.

It started with a tour of the forest

After our hike through the park we had just enough time for a swim at Cabarette beach before the sun went down.

Chris rested under a palm tree.

We found a business opportunity.

After a careful inspection we decided to leave the business to the natives

After a day at the beach we were back to the city of Porto Plata on the Amber Coast.
We visited the amber Museum.

A young guide pointed out the Victorian Architecture
I bought a Meringue CD at a near  by shop.  The meringue dance lesion was free.
