BATON ROUGE -BARKUS

The old State Capital with a magnificent stained glass skylight is a highlight of 

BATON ROUGE

(Baton Rouge means red stick

A blood stained pole marked the boundary

 between two Indian tribes, located at present day Baton Rouge. )

We went to see the Barkus, dog, parade.

Getting the dogs in costume before the big event.

Hot dogs with mustard were popular.

All well organized parades provide security and rest rooms.

A human leads the parade

This puppy stood on the sidelines and watched the whole parade.  i wonder what he was thinking.

This policeman had his jailbird dog under control.

I had a great time.  I got to pat lots of friendly dogs.
