only coffee shop/ gift store in Opelousas across from the Civic
Center, look for the tables in front. Her September Morn on the wall
is not for sale at any price. Not every building in the downtown
looks like this, most are empty. While Main Street is
struggling, Opelousas, famous for its many Cajun dance spots, is
alive at night.
We found small carnival Mardi Gras museums or
at least a grouping of antique carnival artifacts at nearly
every visitor center outpost. These are at the excellent Opelousas
Visitor's Center staffed by friendly and knowledgeable volunteers
