The Closing Ceremony

The 21at Annual FECC Reunion Closing Ceremony was held at Pavlovsk Palace which was built beginning in 1781 for Russian Tsar Paul I, the only son of Catherine the Great (More palace fotos & info) Located near the rail stop for Tsarskoe Selo ( Czar's Village) the more common local name for historic 2001 FECC host City of Pushkin (pushkin-town.net) a popular attraction  a short ride from St. Petersburg


Mrs. Mgr. Malgorzata Wnuk head of  FECC-Poland  who accepted the FECC Flag and duties on behalf of their delegation which entitles their rich cultural region to be considered the World Capital of Carnival for 2002. Her prestigious delegation was led by 3 Mayors whose speeches were further enhanced by much live folk music.


  

Our larger than life FECC President Henry van der Kroon,  was much appreciated by the Russians whose history has been defined by strong leaders.
The Henry Doll  was auctioned off for an incredible sum to an elegant Russian patron of the arts Alexsy Mulin

Mr. Gennady Tkachev Head of External Relations for St. Petersburg is introduced as the International and Russia FECC Presidents Henry van der Kroon,  and Igor Yventchikov listen carefully

FECC-Russia President  Igor Yventchikov whose production company in association with St. Petersburg authorities takes a moment to look with pride on all he has accomplished in the last week. The next day he produced the charming and much loved Puskin Carnival for the 7th year.
In the foreground is Anna a student volunteer who assistance was much appreciated by many FECC participants.

Leif Hallberg from Norrkoping Sweden former FECC Vice-president of Conventions was key early leader for historic 2001 gathering of Carnival Cities to witness the rebirth of St. Petersburg annual parade as a Carnival

Representing the Americas home of the syncretic Carnival traditions of Europe, Africa, and indigenous peoples were Sue, Chris, Wendy Collins (USA-San Francisco and FECC host web site Carnaval.com), Rex Brudette (USA-Branson Missouri ), Odessa Pegus (USA-San Francisco-deputy general), Marisa Stamper ( Aruba) and Marcelo Antony (Bonaire) 
Designer and artist Marisa Stamper has long been the most active member of the FECC for the Americas and is often on the road with her performing company.
